He directs research groups focused on organ-on-a-chip, cardiovascular regenerative medicine, ischemia\u2013reperfusion injury, and space medicine\/biology. His interests also extend to physics simulations, including finite element analysis and molecular dynamics. In these endeavors, he has been privileged to act as a mentor for many international students.
