Ken Takahashi attended the 52nd International Astronautical Congress held in Toulouse, France from October 1st to 5th in 2001, as a student delegate from National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA). He gave a poster presentation at that conference. 私にとって、宇宙開発事業団NASDA（現宇宙航空研究開発機構JAXA）の選抜で2001年のIAC派遣プログラムに参加できたことは、人生のブレイクスルーだった。 選考の1年前、岐阜県土岐市で行われた「無重量セミナー」なる会合で、私は1999年（初回）のIAC派遣プログラムに参加したM氏と、運命的な出会いを果たす。 M氏の情報により、NASDAが国際宇宙連盟(IAF)と協力し、1999年より国際宇宙連盟大会（IAC)への学生派遣プログラムを行っていることを知り、私の体に衝撃が走った。 IACは、宇宙関連の会合で世界最大の規模を誇る。毎年1回行われ、数千人の参加者が世界各国から集う。今後の宇宙開発の方向が定められていく現場だ。 私の上に、遠く高い世界が突然現れたように思われた。 派遣プログラムの応募学生は、第1次審査（英語のエッセイを含む書類選考）をクリアすると第2次審査（英語による電話インタビュー等）に進むことができる。 これに合格すると大会会場までの往復航空券、大会参加費、宿泊費を手にすることができる。 私が応募した2001年（フランス・トゥールーズ）には、16人の定員に80人以上が応募し、選考は激戦となった。 これを勝ち抜いて、合格の知らせを書面で受け取ったときの喜びを、今も覚えている。 IAC派遣は私を大きく変えた。宇宙分野の人脈が拡がり、宇宙開発の最先端を知り、そして共にIACに参加した仲間たちと今も続く親交を築いたことの意義は、計り知れない。 宇宙フォーラムによる募集要項 一次審査に提出したエッセイ 会場で発表したポスター IAC日程
