研究准教授の称号付与式

Okayama University provides support for researchers with outstanding research achievements from the perspectives of promoting research strength and fostering young researchers. In this context, the university has established a “research associate professor” system, which is an incentive system for lecturers and assistant professors. On August 24, a ceremony was held to give the title of research associate professor to the 8 elected lecturers and assistant professors, including Ken Takahashi, who have excellent research achievements. 高橋賢が研究准教授に就任

Okayama University has appointed Ken Takahashi, Ph.D. at Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, as a Research Associate Professor in April 2020. The university established the position of Research Associate Professor this year to promote a researcher who has excellent research ability to play an active role as a principal investigator. It is given to an Assistant Professor or Lecturer who has an outstanding track record of internationally recognized publications and is active as a principal investigator. Ken Takahashi Wins Prestigious Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from JSPS

Research project will study a new way to tackle myocardial infarction, stroke, and damage after kidney transplantation caused by ischemia–reperfusion injury Assistant Professor Ken Takahashi, Ph.D. at Okayama University was awarded Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B) by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. JSPS is Japan’s sole independent funding agency with a mission of advancing science. The research fund carries an award of ~$140K to uncover the common mechanism for myocardial infarction, stroke, and damage after kidney transplantation. Ischemia–reperfusion injury occurs when blood perfusion is resumed after hours of restricted blood supply. During the ischemic period, toxic reactive oxygen species are accumulated in the blood. Ken selected as Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Bearer

The flame represents the Olympic ideals of peace, unity and friendship The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has selected Ken Takahashi as a torch bearer after a long process of rigorous review. The torch is ignited several months before the Games in front of the Temple of Hera, the archeological site of Olympia, the holy land of the ancient Olympic Games. The flame is then carried by torch bearer to the venue. On the day of the opening ceremony, the final runner ignites the cauldron in the main stadium. Promoting Mechanobiology

Ken Takahashi was inaugurated as Associate Editor of Mechanobiology Journal on Sunday September 22, 2019. The goal of the journal is to improve the understanding of mechanobiology and ultimately provide approaches to translate into therapeutic strategies and rectifying husbandry and agricultural problems. Ken contributed to hold 2nd International Symposium on Mechanobiology in 2014 as Secretary General, and published Dynamic Remodeling of the Heart and Blood Vessels in Mechanobiology: Exploitation for Medical Benefit (Wiley, ISBN:9781118966143) in 2017. * * * Takahashi Lab at Okayama University uses principles of physiology, cellular and molecular biology, and biophysics. Joining Harvard Medical School

Ken Takahashi joined Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, Harvard University, as a Visiting Scholar. At the Wyss, Ken is collaborating with Professor Donald Ingber aiming to establish ischemia-reperfusion injury model using the organ-on-a-chip technology.

Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education

岡山医学会教育奨励賞受賞 Ken Takahashi won the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education for his continuous effort for internationalization of Okayama University. The O-NECUS (Okayama University-North East China Universities platform, Graduate Student Exchange) program has a short-term study abroad program with five universities in northeastern China. The affiliated universities include Harping Medical University, Jilin University, Chinese Medical University, and Dalian Medical University. This program has a history of over 12 years. However, As Okayama University’s name recognition was not necessarily high in northeastern China, the acquisition of international students was not always sufficient. 第1回医学生生理学クイズ大会を開催 Medical Students in Okayama University Lay the Foundation for Medical School Physiology Quiz in Japan On Sunday April 17, 2016, Conference of Okayama Medical students had the honor to inaugurate the All-Japan Medical School Physiology Quiz, under the aegis of G7 Kurashiki Education Minister’s Meeting and The Physiological Society of Japan. Hosting the International Symposium on Mechanobiology (ISMB) 2014

メカノバイオロジーの国際学会として最大のISMBは、その第1回が2011年に上海で行われた。2014年5月20日から23日に岡山で開催されたISMB2014は、その第2回である。高橋は、事務局長としてこの学会の開催に携わった。
