日本生理学会第100回記念大会で臓器チップに関する研究を発表

The 100th Annual Meeting of the Physiological Society of Japan was held at the Kyoto International Conference Center from March 14th to 16th. As a highlight of the conference, there was a dialogue between two Nobel laureates, Dr. Svante Pääbo and Dr. Shinya Yamanaka. At the conference, the Takahashi lab presented the following posters related to organ-on-a-chip: Facilitated differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells into cardiomyocytes in a microfluidic chip Development of a lung fibrosis model using lung epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and vascular endothelial cells These studies aim to explore the potential for new treatment development utilizing cell culture and microfluidic control technology. Fighting the COVID-19 epidemic with Zoom video conference

Takahashi hosted a zoom video conference for research reports, which was originally scheduled as a face-to-face meeting, on February 27 and 28, 2020. Online meetings are an effective option to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. A research group of “Living in Space” is a section of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan. The research group holds its conference biannually. Over 60 researchers in the fields of space biology and medicine attended the conference and reported their findings and achievements. IC-LYMS2019(台北)にて優秀研究賞を受賞

Ken Takahashi received the Outstanding Research Award at the 2019 International Conference for Leading and Young Medical Scientists (IC-LYMS 2019) in Taipei, Taiwan, which was organized by the Asia Pacific Society for Biology and Medical Sciences. The purpose of the conference was to provide a platform for the exchange and networking between top scientists, emerging young researchers, and students across a wide spectrum of biological and medical sciences. Lab member Chen Wang received the 1st Poster prize in IC-LYMS2019

Dr. Chen Wang, Ph.D. student in Takahashi lab, won the 1st prize in the poster presentation at the 2019 International Conference for Leading and Young Medical Scientists (IC-LYMS 2019) held by the Asia Pacific Society for Biology and Medical Sciences in Taipei. She presented a poster presentation entitled “Roles of the TRPM4 channel in mitochondrial function, ROS generation, and calcium release in myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury”. Outstanding Research Award at ICBMS 2019

Ken Takahashi received the Outstanding Research Award at 2019 International Conference on Biology and Medical Science (ICBMS 2019) held in Okinawa, Japan during Feb 28 – Mar 03 2019. The title of the lecture was “Mechanobiology and its application to medical problem solving”. ### Takahashi Lab at Okayama University uses principles of physiology, cellular and molecular biology, and biophysics. The purpose of the lab is to unveil the mechanisms of diseases through collaborations with scientists, epidemiologists, and corporate alliances. The alliance includes Harvard University, Boston University, Tokyo University of Science, and PD Aerospace, Ltd.
