Ken Takahashi received the Outstanding Research Award at the 2019 International Conference for Leading and Young Medical Scientists (IC-LYMS 2019) in Taipei, Taiwan, which was organized by the Asia Pacific Society for Biology and Medical Sciences. The purpose of the conference was to provide a platform for the exchange and networking between top scientists, emerging young researchers, and students across a wide spectrum of biological and medical sciences. Nineteen presentations and three posters were presented at the conference, which took place four days from 20th to 23rd December 2019. Lab member Chen Wang received the 1st Poster prize in IC-LYMS2019

Dr. Chen Wang, Ph.D. student in Takahashi lab, won the 1st prize in the poster presentation at the 2019 International Conference for Leading and Young Medical Scientists (IC-LYMS 2019) held by the Asia Pacific Society for Biology and Medical Sciences in Taipei. She presented a poster presentation entitled “Roles of the TRPM4 channel in mitochondrial function, ROS generation, and calcium release in myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury”. Heart attack modeled with human stem cells

Toward the development of individual model of ischemic heart disease Heart attack caused by ischemia is a major medical problem that threatens our healthy life. Researchers at Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences developed a model of myocardial infarction using cardiomyocytes differentiated from human induced pluripotent stem cells.
